Fix: Personal Training Tab Loads Blank or Shows Only the Trainer's Photo

Personal Training tab loads blank, white, or shows only the trainer's photo

If a member says their app's Personal Training tab (or My Crunch Folder / My Folder) opens to a blank or white screen, shows only their trainer's profile photo with nothing else clickable, or won't let them acknowledge a session, this article covers the most common pattern and what to try.

Symptoms

  • Tapping Personal Training shows the trainer's photo/circle at the top, but the rest of the screen is blank or white — no calendar, no workouts, nothing else responds to taps.
  • The whole Personal Training or My Folder section loads blank/white with no content at all.
  • Icons appear across the top of the screen, but tapping them does nothing.
  • A single unexplained visual artifact instead of content (one member saw only a "yellow dot").
  • The member can't acknowledge a completed personal training session — the confirmation screen never appears, or the email/notification link to acknowledge won't respond when tapped.
  • The section works "on and off" or "sometimes" — intermittent, not 100% reproducible.
  • Symptom started right after an app update or after the club ran a "site upgrade."
  • The same content is visible on the website or on the trainer's tablet, but not in the member's app.

Cause

This is a Client App rendering/loading failure specific to the Personal Training area of the app — the app successfully authenticates the member and loads the shell of the page (hence the trainer photo or top icons rendering), but fails to load the actual content (calendar, workouts, acknowledgment prompt). Several reports correlate the onset with a recent app update or club-side "site upgrade," suggesting a client-side caching or session-refresh issue tied to updates, though this has not been confirmed by engineering.

This is distinct from cases where the trainer's content genuinely never synced to the client (see Article 3) and from onboarding/kickoff-gated lockouts (see Article 2) — in this cluster, the member typically has an established, active training relationship, and the failure is in the app rendering itself rather than missing data.

Solution

Option 1: Standard app refresh steps (try in order)

  1. Force-close the app completely and reopen it.
  2. Log out and log back in.
  3. Confirm the app is updated to the latest version in the app store, then restart the device.
  4. Delete the app and reinstall it.

Note: In the majority of tickets reviewed, members had already tried some or all of these steps themselves before contacting support, and the issue persisted. Don't present this as a guaranteed fix — set expectations that escalation is often still needed.

Option 2: Request a backend account refresh from Enhance Support

Several tickets show Member Services escalating to Enhance Support, who performed what one internal reply described as "a refresh on your app account," asking the member to wait 5–10 minutes and then log out and back in. This has resolved the issue in some cases, but in at least one case (a 6-month training program that wouldn't load) the account refresh did not resolve it and the case had to be escalated further — so treat this as a next step to try, not a guaranteed fix.

Option 3: Escalate to Enhance Tech Support if steps 1–2 don't resolve it

If the member has already tried logging out/in, reinstalling, and a backend refresh hasn't helped (or isn't available to you), escalate to Enhance Tech Support (ensupport@enhancetech.io) with: - Member name, barcode ID, and home club - Whether the issue is constant or intermittent - Whether it started after an app update - A screenshot of the blank/broken screen if the member can provide one

Prevention

  • After shipping an app update, proactively watch for a short-term bump in "blank Personal Training tab" reports, since several cases in this data correlate with updates.
  • Encourage members to keep the app updated, but note that updating is not a guaranteed fix on its own.

Still Having Issues?

If the tab remains blank after a backend refresh and reinstall, this needs Enhance Tech Support / engineering investigation rather than further member-side troubleshooting — escalate with the device type (iOS/Android) and app version if available, since that detail was largely absent from the tickets reviewed and would help narrow the cause.
