Why the App Won't Download or Load: Device Account and Wi-Fi Requirements

Two separate, low-volume patterns showed up in this ticket sample that both block someone from using the app before a normal login even happens: not having a device store account to download it, and the app apparently requiring the club's Wi-Fi to load. Each is answered separately below since they have different causes.

I don't have an Apple ID / Google account — can I still get the app?

Not established from the ticket data. Two members were reported as unable to access the app specifically because they didn't have an Apple ID (to download from the App Store) or a Google/Play Store account with the right permissions (to install from Google Play). No ticket in this sample shows a workaround (e.g., a web-based alternative, a shared/managed device account, or a sideloading option) — this looks like a standard mobile-platform requirement (both app stores require a store account to install apps) rather than an Enhance-specific bug, but that hasn't been confirmed.

If this comes up: there's no confirmed self-service answer to give the member yet. Escalate to support to check whether a web-based alternative to the mobile app exists for members without a store account, since the ticket data doesn't confirm one either way.

The app won't load unless I'm on my club's Wi-Fi — is that expected?

Not established, and the evidence is mixed. Two members reported the Client/Trainer App failing to load or connect specifically when they were off their club's Wi-Fi (at home, or generally "outside of Crunch Wifi"). A third, harder-to-read ticket appears to describe the same pattern (an error every time the member leaves the building) but the ticket text is too garbled to cite with confidence.

This is not consistent with how a member-facing mobile app should normally work — apps typically work over any internet connection, not just a specific venue's Wi-Fi — so if this is real, it likely points to a network/configuration bug rather than intended behavior. Note also that a separate, unrelated ticket (from a different subcategory sample, not this one) reported the opposite problem — the app failing "on club wifi or not" — which does not confirm a genuine club-Wi-Fi dependency and may just mean the app was broken for unrelated reasons in that case.

If this comes up: don't tell a member the app requires club Wi-Fi as a confirmed fact. Escalate to Engineering with the member's device type, home network setup if known, and whether the same login/section fails consistently on club Wi-Fi vs. off it.
