Program Design Overview
Program Design lets you create workouts and programs for your clients, track their progress, and help them hit their goals faster. Workout refers to a single training session, and a program refers to a series of workouts, combined in a structured way over a period of time. Here’s what you need to know.
You’ve got three ways to create and assign workouts and programs.
- First off, you can use one of the templates from the library.
- You can build workouts manually,
- And you can build programs, either manually, or by using AI.
Program Design in Action: Before, During, and After the Session
To use Program design correctly, think in three clear phases. Before, during and after the session.
- Before the session, create the workout or a program, and assign it to the client
- During the session, log the client’s achievements and make necessary adjustments on the spot
- And After the session, review their performance
Linking Workouts to Sessions
It is important that a workout or a program is not only assigned to the client, but to a specific session in the calendar. This will enable you to insert achievements.
If you’re assigning a workout to the client, you’ll need to manually assign it to each session. To do this, go to your Calendar, click on session, and tap on the Assign workout. You can then select a workout from your library and assign it to that session. If there is already a workout attached, the name of the workout will be shown in the block.
Make it a habit: Always check and ensure that each session in your calendar has a workout assigned.
On the other hand, Once you assign a program to a client, each next session you schedule will automatically pull the next workout from that program.
If you want to swap the workout for a different one, just find the session, tap it, and click on the workout block. The arrows icon will give you access to your libraries, and from there you can select an alternative workout you wish to reassign.
- Canceled a session? No problem. The workout will automatically roll over to the next booked session.
- If you reschedule, the workout moves with the session.
- To view the workouts and programs you’ve assigned to a client, head to the Client List, select the client, and open their profile. You’ll find two tabs: Workouts and Programs. The Workouts tab shows all workouts assigned to that client. The Programs tab displays every program the client has been assigned. The Currently active program will be marked “In Progress”, while those labeled “Canceled” are programs that have been used previously, and are no longer active. When you assign a new program, the previous one is automatically marked as canceled. Clients can’t have more than one active program at a time.
You’ll also find a Drafts tab, where unfinished workouts and programs are saved automatically so you can return to them anytime.
Building Workouts and Programs
When creating workouts and programs, you can choose to build it either for a specific client, or for your library.
Build for a Client
If you select “Build for Client”, once you finish building, you’ll see the option to Save & Assign. This will do 2 things. One, it will save the workout or program to your library, so you can reuse it and assign it to other clients in the future, and two, it will assign it to that specific client immediately.
To sum it up, the workout, or program, goes both into your library and to the client you built it for.
Build for My Library
If you select “Build for My Library”, this saves the workout or program only in your library. You can then reuse it anytime and assign it to clients later.
Make sure every active client has a program assigned, and that you’re logging achievements in every session. That’s what keeps your clients progressing and your records clean.
What we’ve just covered is the big picture of how Program Design works. You now understand the flow, before, during, and after the session, and the tools available to you.
Now, let’s break it down feature by feature, so you can use every part of the system to train smarter, stay organized, and help your clients hit their goals faster.
